Addictions

Addictions

According to the first unit of the Northstar English Book, it says that in the past when people talked about addictions, it just referred to Nicotine addiction, drug addictions and alcohol addiction. However, these days when we speak about addictions, we talk about different factors, for example: Addiction from shopping, net uses, cellphones, sex, work, etc. In addition to this, new words or terminologies have been created as in the case of "workaholic" a terminology from work addiction, "shopaholic"a phase derived from an addiction from shopping, and  "netaholic"an addiction derived from net uses. Moreover, people who spend 6 hours, or more during the day searching for unnecesary information might be called Internet Addicts. Another thing is that when people are addicted to something, they use to be compulsive and need to attend to support groups to receive therapies.

One of the things that I found really interesting about this topic is that you can become an addict unconciously. For example, students love to use the internet, so they are devoring to the use of this tool and at the same time, If they do not have a control about the time they  spend online, or the sorts of things they look for, they can get addicted to it. In addition to this, people have to have a control on the things they really do because if they do something excessively, they can develope an addiction to it. Another thing related to the use of the internet is that the government is trying to provide internet to the citizens, but if they do not have the knowledge to give it the correct use, the government would have a worse problem in the future.

In conclution, do not do things excessively because that way you can really get addicted to them, and do not allow children do all kinds of staff without knowing about them.
