Unit 4: The Tipping Point
The Tipping Point
A tipping point: It is simply an addition or
increment that in itself might not seem extraordinary but that unexpectedly is
just the amount of additional changes that will lead to a big effect. Some
tipping points in the Dominican Republic could be the government corruption,
delinquency, criminology, femicide, etc.
Before information started to come out from the
case of Odebrech, people knew about the government corruption by word of mouth,
the news on television, the web and the radio because some politicians talked about this topic. The government corruption has
become an epidemic in the Dominican Republic covering all the government spheres.
Danilo Medina Sanchez is consumed by the government corruption that exists in
this country because he is the president of this nation, and he has supported
this bad practice from the PLD Party Members. The people have been waiting for
a real answer from the attorney and the competent authorities, but they have misled
the real information about this case in which most of the people from this
government are involved.
Delinquency and criminology are two factors or
problems that are increasing and affecting drastically this country as a consequence
of the lack of opportunities and better life conditions. The government has to
generate new job sources in order to reduce these two problems, but they have
to be more honest to be an example for the lower class people, as well.
In conclusion, I think that the root of all these
problems is the government corruption and the lack of opportunities that affect
us as a country.
