Unit 5: Feng Shui
Unit 5: Feng Shui
Feng
Shui: It
is an ancient Chinese belief that the way your house is built or the way that
you arrange objects affects your success, health, wealth and happiness. In
addition to this, Feng Shui can create harmony, good luck, physical and
psychological comfort. Feng shui grew up of the practical experience of farmers
in the south part of china over three thousand years ago.
The
theory behind Feng Shui is that there are invisibles light forces and energy
called “Chi” that circulates through all things like rooms, buildings, people,
etc. In contrast, if these light forces are blocked, people might feel
uncomfortable and boring. In classical Feng Shui water symbolized wealth and
abundance.
Nowadays,
feng shui is more accepted in places such a The United States, Canada, Europe
and Latin America. Architects, real estate development and interior designers
are using the principal of the Chinese practice of feng shui for their life and
work.
From
my point of view, I think that whatever person can believe in feng shui if it
really works for his or her life. I recognize that things have to be really
organized in order to have a more beautiful environment, but I do not think
that we have to follow a theory or belief to accomplish that. There are so many
superstitious people who apply their success to beliefs and not to their efforts.
