UNIT 7 Workplace Privacy

      Well now is time to talk about this unit which emphasize on the enviroment at work , how employees feel when they are working in a "safe" place where their employers take control of each  single detail in the workplace such  as eavesdropping, ramdoms tests and also reading personal e-mails. So many companies say that the have  the right  to take care  of their business and employees security nevertheless I think these "protections protocols" are too invasives.

        Now let's focus on the unit vocabulary.



         

   Emplyees: people who work for a company or organization.

  e.g:  Many employees  from this companiy are going to be fired because of the economy situation.  


Employer: person or organization you work  for.   

e.g:    Employers are being watchful about their employees.


Keep an eye on: watch carefully or secretly.  

e.g:   Sometimes when I am at work I feel like someone is keeping an eye on me.


Surveillance: watch closely and continiously.  

e.g:   The company is implementing the way to find out what employees are doing during labour hours by automated surveillance.


Saveguards:  protection 

e.g:   Do not panic this system is just for "safeguard" all of you. 



Eavesdropping: listen to secretly

e.g:   There is not way that my workmates  stop eavesdropping.


Legitimate:  lawfull, reasonable

e.g:  Some business legitimate their purposes for spying their employees.


Log: an official written record 

 e.g:  They have a detailed log of every single call you have done. 


Scope: range 

e.g:  Those spies method are out of the normal scope. 


Willy-nilly: unpredictably 

e.g: Baseball players are taken willy-nilly tests from their teams owners.


Dignity: respectability 

e.g: Working with dignity is a right for all employees in the company. 


Demeaned:  insulted. 

e.g:  They felt demeaned when they discoverd that their privacy in the toilet  have been violated.


Driving: causing 

e.g:  That behavior is driving our staff to flee from the company.  


Sinister:  evil 

e.g: Their sinister intentions are not going to go on.


Deter: prevent. 

e.g: Deter corrution it is a hard issue in Dominican Republic because some people are not interested in the topic.


Racial slur: insulting comments about a person's race

e.g: There are some racial slurs inside university's restrooms.
