Hello there  professor, fellow classmates, my name is Pamela Palacio. Even though I have not been there in class physically, I have been working and studying with you every step of the way. I was finally able to join in on the blog, as it was giving me issues with my google emails. But enough about that, about me, I'm 28, almost done with the career, only about 10 classes left. Honesty is the best policy. I want to make a comment about this unit, and then show you some important vocabulary definitions, and some sentences that I made using them. Tell the truth and be a honest person always will be the best choice , but not in all the cases it is possible to be completely sincere and tell the truth. The bold and the bashful (unit 3) This topic is a really important issue because is part of the behavior of each other,  some people are bold, but others are bashful or shy. In the classroom, the day we started that unit, some people said that they are shy because they didn't like talking too much or being engage in a lot of things. Others said that they could be both depending of the situation. Also we listened for main ideas about why do Americans consider themself shy? Some reasons were because they have a competitive culture, they are constantly being evaluated, and by the whole of notion of testing, however. Being basful is an aspect that affects personal relationship, is a behavior that limits our social development. But honesty means more than no liying; Honest person dosen´t do things that are morally wrong. Honesty is about speaking and acting truthfully; Being honest means admit your actions, don´t say things about people that arent true. Honesty is the process of recognizing, accepting and expressing our authentic, true self. And this process starts with you. Nothing is more important than being honest with your self. All too often, we fall into the trap of deceiving ourselves with rationalization. The culprit that hides behind the skirts of dishonesty is fear. Until we face those fears, our motivations for being dishonest remain. We lose our integrity. We begin to lie, we begin to rationalize, we begin to deceive others, and we begin to act on the impulses of envy, greed and manipulation. We may think we are getting away with it because we are not getting caught in the act by others, but we are getting caught every single time by ourselves. In the chapter "Internet and other addictions", the class presented the kind of addictions that exist nowadays. We explained that before was known drugs as the only one addiction for people; but it has risen new ones, such as: gambling, shopping, sex, cell phone and Internet use, and even travel. People have done those activities since long time ago, it is recently when specialists have started using the term addictions for those situations, though. In the class, we also saw the suffix "aholic", it is used to call people with some addictions. For example, netaholic; it is the addicted person to the internet, alcoholic; addicted to alcohol, shopaholic; addicted to shopping; we use workaholic for addicted to working as well.

Unit 2: Honesty is the best policy. When we tell a lie we are just fooling ourselves because, in the long run, we are the affected ones. When we are caught telling a lie people start distrusting us and it is very difficult to win someone' s trust again.  It is recommendable to always the truth. Shyness is a feeling  of fear or disconfort caused by many things especially people, this feel inhibit healthy relationship and affect the person's life. what caused shyness? Accordrding  to psicologist there are many factors that take place in this codition such as: cultural situations bullying authoritarian parents public humillation low self-esteem Human's behavior is related to many situation or feelings. Many people think that when a person does not talk looking people's faces  is because that person is lying but, in some cases is not about being laying rather is shyness, people always make misattributions about a person behavior.

sometimes people talk about honesty but even they, don't know how to be honest. For example in my country Dominican Republic some of our politicians and government official talk about honesty but they aren't honest ,they talk about talling the truth but they are the first liars, they talk about how to elimanate the corruption, but  they are the firts corrupt, so trey don't care about anybady the only important things is how to get the power to continue doing whtat they want to do with the  Dominican  people , saying they truth in a mocking fashion, but in the long run the truth is going to come out.

Tipping Point: Are those that can make a small or significant difference in your life. These are characterized by occurring in a moment of your life, I mean they mark your life in a determined moment. Examples: 1. One tipping point in my life was when my mother graduated from uuniversity. 2. A bad tipping point in my life was when my grandmother died. 3. The worst tipping point in my life was when  I lost my baby.

BOLD Being bold for a person means dared, brave,decided and confident. this kind of person is extrovert and talkative. Example: Juan is a bold person because is always participating in activities, and he usually  talk too much in a friendly way with all the person that he knows. BASHFUL Being bashful means, embarrassed, self-conscious, introverted, reserved. Example: Ana is usually a bashful person because when she is in a public place or at school, she doesn´t like to partipate, and she is always away from others, I mean she is aloof.

In this unit we learned about being honest, being real, not to try to be someone else just to be accepted, we don`t have to lie. Some people do it for differents reasons but at the end when we discoverd that you were lying it hurts more than the truth. A truth hurts for a moment, but lie hurts for ever.

There are millions of people in the world, all with different characteristics, and in their classification there are extrovert and introvert people. The first one are people very open, social butterfly, gregarious and sociable. The second one are very shy, reserved, timid among other things. I consider myself as an extrovert person, i like make new friends, I can easily talk with people that I don't know. I'm very sociable and rarely time I'm shy. Be honest is one of the values which make a person be better. This can be saw as a great virtue, being sincere with others, truthfull , have integrity, be loyal, among other characteristics, but is always good to be totally honest? . In a short story of R.K.Narayan called Like the Sun,the main character Sekhar is a school teacher who decides how to deal with the truth at least for a day. His firts test comes at breakfast when he criticizes the cooking of his wife. this unit was very important because was about  the addictions that people have in life . I could see that sometimes people devoting more time in things tha are not as important  as the family is , and they become addicted consciousty or inconsistently of those things. I lerned many new words that Idid't know about it, forexample: Alcoholic: is a person  addicted to drink a lot alcohol. workaholic: is a peson addicted to work like 24/7. Shopolic: is a person addicted to shopping like wemen and some men . Netaholic: is a person addicted to internet.

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY                                  Being honest will give you mental peace. If you are always honest with people you do not have to remember the lie you told them. The other person will always trust you. so we have to be honest because being honest help . A dishonest person have to pay a high price for telling lies and they could end it up in jail.

Honesty Talking about hosnety in Domincan Republic, in many areas of our society doesn't exist honsty. People tells what you want to hear, especially politician tend to  do this. The internet and other addictions.  An addiction according to some partners is something that controls a person and also something that makes that person depends on it, and I  agree with their definition. As the name of the lesson suggests, it is about addictions, specially to the internet, which is a topic very important now days because there are many people who are addicted to this. Those people spend much time on the internet and forget about other important aspects of their life. I think that we have to think about the time we devote to surfing on the internet and try not to become an addicted.
